Oaths & Affirmations

An oath or affirmation is a solemn declaration made by an individual who promises that a statement they are making is truthful. A Notary Public may administer an oath or affirmation when it is required as part of a jurat, affidavit, sworn statement, certification, or other legal or official document.

An oath is traditionally a pledge made with reference to a higher power, while an affirmation is a non-religious declaration carrying the same purpose and solemnity. The signer may choose whichever is appropriate for their personal beliefs; both serve as a formal promise that the information being provided is truthful.

At Raritan Valley Notary Services, we administer oaths and affirmations professionally and respectfully while following applicable notarial requirements. When connected to a notarized document, we also verify the signer's identity, witness the signing when required, and complete the appropriate notarial certificate.

Oaths and affirmations may be required for affidavits, sworn statements, court-related documents, financial matters, business documents, and other circumstances in which an individual must formally attest to the truthfulness of a statement.

Our goal is to make the process clear, professional, respectful, and convenient, whether your appointment takes place at your home, office, attorney's office, healthcare facility, or another suitable location.

Your word. Your affirmation. Professionally administered.
