Jurats & Oaths

A jurat is a notarial act used when a signer must swear or affirm that the statements contained within a document are true. Unlike an acknowledgment, which generally confirms that a signature was made willingly, a jurat requires the signer to make an oath or affirmation regarding the truthfulness of the document's contents.

During a jurat, the signer personally appears before the Notary Public, provides satisfactory evidence of identity, takes the required oath or affirmation, and signs the document in the Notary's presence. The Notary then completes the appropriate notarial certificate.

Jurats are commonly associated with affidavits, sworn statements, certifications, court-related documents, financial documents, and other paperwork requiring a declaration made under oath or affirmation.

At Raritan Valley Notary Services, we approach every jurat with professionalism, attention to detail, and respect for the significance of a sworn statement. Our mobile service also makes it convenient to complete your notarization at your home, office, attorney's office, healthcare facility, or another suitable location.

While we cannot advise you on the legal contents of your document or select a notarial act on your behalf, we can professionally perform the requested jurat once the appropriate notarial act has been determined.

Your word. Your signature. Your oath. Professionally notarized.
